Let’s talk powertrains: the 2022 Kia Carnival takes the edge over the Sedona, with its 3.5 L V6 engine with 290 horsepower. That’s better than its predecessor's 3.3 L V6 engine with 276 horsepower. However, their towing capacities remain the same, clocking in at 3500 pounds for both models.

Despite having more power, the Carnival still delivers better fuel ratings than the Sedona, with city/highway ratings of 12.0/8.9 L/100 km versus 12.7/10.0 for the Sedona.

Their exteriors are fairly similar in size, but the Carnival once again takes the edge. The biggest advantage it enjoys is in its cargo volume, which ranges from 1,139 to 4,110 L for the Carnival, depending on whether the rear seats are folded down or not. For the Sedona, that number ranges from 960 to 4,022 L.

Every Kia Sedona can seat 8 passengers. The Carnival can also seat 8 passengers with the exception of its top-of-the-line SX trim, which can seat 7 passengers. The latter, however, features a second row of captain's chairs that can be reclined backwards, and also allow you to raise your legs like you would in a recliner.

The Carnival makes itself even more irresistible with better onboard equipment such as 3-zone climate control, heated front seats, ventilated front and 2nd row seats (SX trim), a power-adjustable driver's seat as well as generous cargo space.

It is also equipped with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration, a 12.3-inch multimedia interface, a navigation system and a Bose sound system. It also benefits from numerous safety features and driver-assist technologies including Driver Attention Warning System and Rear Occupant Alert (standard on all versions, unlike the Sedona which only offers it on the top trim), Forward Collision Avoidance, and Blind Spot View Monitor.
