This is the final year to buy the 2025 Kia EV6 at new-vehicle pricing in Canada. Kia Canada confirmed in December 2025 that the EV6 will not be returning for 2026. In its place, the 2027 Kia EV5 will take over in the spring. Here are the trims, specifications and what it means for you at Kia Chambly.
The 2025 Kia EV6 starts at an MSRP of $51,844 for the Light RWD trim, with up to 513 km of range in the Long Range configuration. Following that, the 2027 Kia EV5 arrives with a starting MSRP of $43,495. You have two options in 2026: take advantage of the last EV6 units in stock, or wait for the EV5 designed for the Canadian market.
To position the EV6 within Kia electric vehicles, it is the first 100 percent electric model engineered on Kia’s E-GMP platform. Launched in 2022, it proved that EV could go with bold design, ultra-fast charging and performance worthy of a premium SUV.
The EV6 range varies by trim:
The EV6 relies on an 800-volt architecture that lets you add roughly 100 km in under 5 minutes on a compatible DC fast charger. In practical terms, it is a quick coffee stop on the drive from Montreal to Quebec, then you are back on the road with enough energy to finish the trip.
Most electric vehicles on the market use a 400-volt architecture. That is fine for daily home charging, although it becomes a limiting factor once you rely on highway fast charging.
The EV6 runs on 800 V, double the usual norm. What does that change in practice?
On a compatible 350-kW fast charger, the EV6 can recover around 100 km of range in under 5 minutes and go from 10 to 80 % in about 18 minutes. The Tesla Model Y, on 400 V, generally sits around 25 to 30 minutes, in favourable conditions, for a similar state of charge.
It is not only a matter of numbers. It is the difference between a quick coffee break and an extended wait you have to plan for. On a Chambly to Quebec trip, that means a single stop under 20 minutes instead of a one-hour halt.
The 800 V setup also reduces heat generated during charging, which helps preserve the battery over time. Less degradation, better capacity retention after years of use.

The 2025 Kia EV6 fits the trend of evolving the vehicle to be more compatible with the new models of the European manufacturer. This also characterizes the 2025 Kia K4, which aligns with the design of the brand's recent vehicles.
At the Los Angeles Auto Show, it was possible to observe that the 2025 EV6 features new Star Map headlights. With GT mode activated, the 2025 EV6 will develop 641 horsepower and 568 lb-ft compared to 576 horsepower and 545 lb-ft in the 2024 version. It will be even more powerful and will no doubt surpass the 0-100 km/h mark of 3.7 seconds!
With such changes, the towing capacity of the Kia EV6 would increase to 2,700 lb instead of the current 2,300 lb.

Few notable changes have been made between the 2024 Kia EV6 and the previous model-year, except for the amount of trims being offered (6 last year); this change allows for the entry-level model to be equipped with a more powerful powertrain, moving from 167 horsepower to 225 horsepower.
